Saving Elizabeth is a strong and powerful novel about a young girl’s fight to save her seriously ill mother. The novel takes place in Denmark and follows the young girl Kirsten, as she grows up and learns about life’s complexities and joys, including friendship, alcoholism and discrimination. Kirsten befriends the funny and sometimes edgy characters in her neighborhood, while trying to come up with a plan for saving her troubled mother. But what are the chances of success, when you grow up in a neighborhood of concrete, asphalt and building complexes, a place where the appointed resident judge is also the community biggest drunk? Will Kirsten ever find a way to rescue her mother?
